Contributing Factors

  1. Has there been AFB at this location within the last two years?
  2. Does this hive contain boxes or comb that have been purchased second hand from another beekeeper?
  3. Have you transferred frames of brood or sticky honey supers into this hive from another hive?
  4. Has the suspect hive robbed out another hive?
  5. High infestations of Varroa mites make a diagnosis difficult- treat the hive for Varroa then check for AFB in 21 days.

The above factors do not contribute to the final score but should be considered by the beekeeper, as they are significant risk indicators.
